Classics Lecture - Can we discover the Music of Ancient Greece? - Wed 20th March

In 2013 Armand D'Angour (Associate Professor in Classics at Oxford, Fellow and Tutor of Jesus College since 2000) embarked on a project to rediscover the sounds of music in ancient Greece, working with documents and with collaborators in different disciplines.  The project has proved unexpectedly fruitful, and led to a breakthrough in our understanding of ancient music.  The talk will demonstrate the principles that have been uncovered and will present some of the wonderful sounds taht have emerged from the research.  This talk is FREE and OPEN TO ALL. It takes place at 4pm in the Performing Arts Studio.  If you would like to come along, please email j.lashly@shr.gdst.net
