Newsletters

Our newsletter keeps parents and pupils informed of past and forthcoming activities. This is sent out with pupils in September and on the last day of each term.  The latest edition can be accessed here.

Weekly Information Sheet

A weekly information sheet is sent out from each department to parents on Fridays during term time. It is sent either as a hardcopy or via e-mail. This contains details about school trips, policies and coursework.  The latest edition can be accessed via the secure parents' area

Blue Book

The Blue Book is a useful publication, which is updated regularly and is sent out to all new and existing parents.  It contains important information governing all aspects of the school, and can be accessed via the secure parents' area.

Homework Diary

Pupils are given a Homework Diary, so that parents and teachers can monitor academic effort. The amount of homework is carefully planned and parents are asked to co-operate with staff in ensuring that the appropriate time is spent on this work in suitable conditions.

Reports

Reports are sent home twice yearly except for year 12, where there is one report and two parents' evenings, and Year 8, where there are three reports and one parents' evening.

  • Yrs 8, 11 and 13 in November
  • Yr 9 in December
  • Yr 8 in February
  • Yrs 7, 10 and 12 in March
  • Yr 11 and 13 in April/May
  • Yrs 7,8,9 and 10 have a report in July

Changes of Circumstances

Please let the school know of any changes in family circumstances. These can include changes of address or contact telephone numbers. Factors which may influence a pupil’s work, behaviour or their emotional state (for example separation, divorce, serious illness within the family, redundancy and so on) will be treated in confidence.

It is helpful if all communications could be in writing or by fax, rather than by telephone. Please state your child’s name and form on all correspondence.

Absence due to illness

If your child is absent from school because of an illness, please telephone the school office on 01743 494000 immediately. This should be followed up with a written note on their return to school.
