Located in Shrewsbury town centre, by the banks of the River Severn, our senior school is a day school for girls in Years 7-13. We are renowned for consistently strong academic achievement, high standards of discipline, and a strong sense of community.
Entry at 11+ is by examination and a personal interview with the Head.
Generally, girls are taught in form groups, but sciences and practical subjects are in taught in smaller classes. Individual tutors record and monitor the progress of each child. Full subject reports are produced twice a year and we meet with parents annually.
Independent learning is encouraged and girls make good use of our bright, modern library and resource centre. Teaching strategies include a wide range of classroom activities as well as fieldwork.
Music plays a central part in school life, with a third of pupils actively involved in performing at all levels in orchestras, bands, choirs, ensembles and music drama and more than 200 music lessons delivered each week by specialist staff. Advanced musicians also play regularly with the Shropshire County Orchestras, Shrewsbury School Orchestra and at national level.
Many of our girls excel in the sporting arena, often representing their school at county, national and even international level. Our continued investment in improved facilities should increase these successes and ensure that all pupils have access to sporting challenges.
