A message to all those in Year 11 from one of our sixth-formers
Sixth form is a very different experience to previous years. Firstly we have much more freedom, being allowed out at lunchtime and having at least one free period every day. The teachers treat sixth formers more like adults and you are expected to meet their expectations. As you will only be taking subjects that you want to do, year twelve and thirteen will be far more enjoyable than other years.
We know the number of subject options can seem overwhelming, but it is important to take the subjects that are right for you. If you have a career path in mind, be sure to choose subjects that can lead into it. If not, choose subjects that you enjoy and have an interest in.
Aside from the subjects, Shrewsbury High sixth form offers a great deal of opportunities. For example Young Enterprise, CSLA, Gold D of E and house events all help develop different skills which will be valuable in later life. On top of these there are the usual sports, drama and music clubs.
Sixth form is a challenging but highly enjoyable experience. If you would like a further idea of what sixth form life is like, follow the links below written by some of our year twelve students.
